Working with the Videos Component

This component was special developed to enable video player functionality on websites through streaming Youtube content.

With this system, you can embed YouTube videos into articles simply by copying and pasting the YouTube video parameter between the youtube flags: {youtube}xxxxxx{/youtube}. So for instance if the URL is: www.youtube.com/watch?v=VKfOuAKCOVs

Then you would insert the following text to your article:
{youtube}VKfOuAKCOVs{/youtube}

Where this text is visible, the video will appear.

Below are instructions to do this:

Adding YouTube videos to your website

  • Log in to your admin via the back end i.e. (www.yourdomainname/administrator)
  • Click on the tab for Content/ Article Manager.
  • Click  New - this will open a new article editor page
  • Enter your video heading in the part that says  ‘Title’
  • Select the category you want your content with the video to reflect e.g. video gallery, media, etc
    • Now  insert the video code to your article.  Remember it is always the eleven characters and it is always displayed as "v=XXXXXXXXXXX" from the YouTube link:

    {youtube}XXXXXXXXXXX{/youtube}

Note however, if you are copying your content from MS Word or any other third party editing software of website, you will need to copy it and paste it in notepad first.  MS Word uses html (web page) technology to render text, so pasting directly from MS Word could affect the layout and formatting of your page content. Pasting your content into Notepad removes the formatting from MS Word, helping to ensure that your page content is consistent throughout your website.

  • After you have put everything in place, ensure that your content is marked to be published and then save your article.
