Presented below are instructions for adding images to your website articles. These instructions are not for adding images to a photo gallery.
IMPORTANT NOTE – you need to resize your images before adding them so they are not too big when you add them to the page. To do this you’ll need an image editing software, like Microsoft Paint, Adobe Photoshop, or Macromedia Fireworks etc.
METHOD
- Ensure that you are logged in the back-end of your website.
- Click on Articles or Article Manager in Dashboard view
- Select and open the article or page where you want the image to be.
- Place your cursor where you want the image to be on the page
- Click on the Insert/Edit Image icon (it’s a green icon and when you point to it, it will read "Insert/ Edit Image")
- Select the image from the directory presented or browse the server directories to upload the image you require
- Adjust image properties if required (see below):
- If you’d like to upload a new image from your computer, click on the tab labelled ‘Upload’ browse on your computer to where the image is located, open the image and then click on Add to upload image to server.
- After image has been uploaded to the server, click on Cancel to go back to the first popup window (Image properties) where you can select the image you just uploaded
IMAGE PROPERTIES (optional)
- If you wish to adjust image properties, follow the instructions below or leave them blank to continue:
- Enter a figure for the border thickness you require (border thickness of 1 usually works well enough for most images or just enter zero)
- Enter a HSpace of 5 (this ensures that there is a horizontal margin between the image and the text or other content on the page)
- Enter a VSpace of zero unless you want a vertical margin (top and bottom) Align to the left, right or wherever you want the image to be positioned on the page
- Then click Insert and the image will appear on the page If you like the way it appears then Save the content item, otherwise, click on the insert/ edit Image icon and adjust the settings.
- Once the image is in place and you are satisfied with its position and properties, save the content item using the 'Save and Close' button at the top of the page.
- NOTE - DO NOT USE THE 'BACK' BUTTON ON YOUR BROWSER: You must use the save or the close buttons at the top of the content page or you could end up with database access issues, which could affect future editing or management of your content.
